Catskill Mountainkeeper works effectively at both the local and state levels to identify and deliver the bold solutions we need to combat the worst impacts of the climate crisis and speed our transition to a 100% renewable energy future. 

At the statewide policy level, Catskill Mountainkeeper helped deliver a major climate victory in 2019, when New York State’s pathbreaking Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) was passed and signed into law. As a founding member of NY Renews--a coalition of more than 200 environmental justice, environmental, faith, community, and labor groups fighting for a just and equitable--Mountainkeeper fought for four years to build support for and pass this bill--the most ambitious, economy-wide climate law in the country.

In our own backyard, Mountainkeeper runs RenewableNY, a program driving the on-the-ground buildout of clean and renewable energy options--like solar power and super efficient heating and cooling systems--in homes and communities.
